Satin Doll by Paulo Barriosby ~Attache

not only gives us a great rear view on Satin Doll, he throws in her teammates for fun!

In the reference materials I sent to Paulo for this commission on my City of Heroes character Satin Doll, he noticed a reference to a supergroup called 'The Supremacy' and asked if he could see the characters. I obliged and he included them all in the piece. Very nice of him considering this was only to be a single character commission.

The other characters are, from top going clockwise, as follows:

Trojan
Ladybird
Doctor Epoch
Satin Doll (center)
Jen X
Shadowshot

It's worth mentioning that 'The Supremacy' is really just a catch-all group for my alternate characters so I don't get bugged to join SGs all the time in-game. They were never really designed to be seen together but Paulo proves that they don't look too bad as a group. Maybe I'll commission a more traditional group shot some day.

Paulo also did this character study of Satin Doll that I rather like as well and was more in line with what I was expecting when I commissioned the piece:

Black Canary would be the correct answer though the powers are quite different.

The hair covering one eye was actually stolen from Veronica Lake, the same influence on Jessica Rabbit. I honestly didn't even think about the JR resemblence when I made her hair red but made that choice based purely on the design aesthetic of breaking up her dark costume pallet with a splash of color. I couldn't go blond for obvious reasons.

Before anyone gets too crazy about the pastiche nature of Satin Doll, it is a game character that I commission purely for fun. I have no commercial plans for the character.

Great catch and an artist I definitely have to add a watch on!

As for characters all in one art - I was in the same boat in that I never expected mine to cross paths but a couple times it just worked either financially or slot wise and then I decided the trio does look like a neat little group *shrug* Sometimes things just happen that way

Yeah, they don't look bad together...but if I had intended them to be seen as a real group, I probably would have made some changes. I wouldn't have given Trojan and Ladybird the same distinctive mask and probably wouldn't have given dual monocles to both Epoch and Shadowshot. Minimally, I'd try to have them drawn a little differently by the artist but I didn't think about it in this instance.

Paulo is a great artist but we did have a little bit of a communication problem from time to time. Fortunately I'm in So Cal and a Spanish speaker is usually within shouting distance.

Thanks for the comment and sorry for such a late reply. My contest tended to bury my CoH-related stuff. It is wrapping up now and I'll get back to commissioning superhero art again soon enough.

This is soooo cool...love the group shots and there all yours is even better lol...I did an AE story with all my...well at one time they were my mains lol...it was a pain doin it but I worked em all in and its still fun to run it once in awhile. But anywho very intresting chars and the art is soooo noir lol...gratz on the art piece!!!
